Job Description

Our client is a unique and empowering organisation based in Leamington Spa that work to provide the best career platform for young people within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths sectors. Due to continued success, they are now seeking an Events Officer to join their team on a full-time basis. You will be responsible for the project management, organisation, administration, and delivery of one-day activities for schools, and multi-day courses at universities or online. The ideal candidate will have a keen desire and enthusiasm to witness the development and engagement of young people and be excited by the prospect of playing a part in aiding their enjoyment of STEM related activities.   • Please note that hybrid working is available for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver events for schools – this will be typically 2-3 days per week during term time, and may be delivered virtually or face to face.
  • Lead and deliver multi-day courses – this is approximately 8 events per year, across the school holidays, each lasting 3-5 days. These may be delivered virtually or run as face to face residentials.
  • Liaise with School/University staff and venue/course organisers on arrangements, i.e. site visits, bookings, course programme development and evening activities.
  • Support the development of on-going educational programmes including developing new projects (STEM days, Think Kits, new courses), creating the resources required for each new project and ensure the continuous improvement of existing projects.
  • Management of budgets for assigned events.
  • Establish, maintain and develop relationships with funders across the private, public and third sectors.
  • Represent the business UK wide, with occasional European and international travel.
  • Promote and safeguard young people to ensure all events provide safe environments in which young people can explore and develop their potential. This includes undertaking risk assessments, supporting with overnight supervision of students, first aid cover/ hospital runs and general behaviour management.

Skills/Experience:

  • Diploma or degree educated – preferably within a STEM subject or similar.
  • Previous experience in the events industry is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literate – confident user of MS (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Mature and conscientious attitude to work with enthusiasm and eagerness to take on responsibility.
  • An understanding of UK school and education systems would be advantageous.
  • Energy and a willingness to travel UK-wide and stay away from home on a regular basis – this could be up to 3 days per week.

Additional information:

  • Working Hours are 8:30 am- 4:30 pm Monday-Friday (37.5 hours) 1 Hour lunch break, Some remote working available.
  • A valid driving license is essential for this role.
