Job Description

Our client is a leading supplier of products and services to a wide range of industries and due to expansion, they are now looking to recruit a suitably qualified accountant, to lead their finance team.

Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for all day to day accounting processes, ensuring that both company and statutory accounting requirements are met. This is a cross functional role and you will be responsible for all areas of the group’s accounting, from transactional invoice processing to production of reports to senior leadership.

Key Accountabilities;

  • Lead, motivate and coach a team of 4, covering all areas of accounting within the company.
  • Ongoing review of the company’s financial processes and systems to ensure efficiencies and processes are updated and documented.
  • Assume responsibility for all financial information systems and areas, to include; accounting, treasury, business plans, budget preparation, tracking of expenses, cost control, cash flow etc.
  • Manage month end, half and year end processes to ensure the timely production of accurate financial statements under IFRS and UK GAAP as required.
  • Ensure the timely submission of all statutory and management accounts and all associated financial procedures.
  • Direct preparation of budgets and financial plans for approval by senior leadership, ensuring detailed forecasts are included.
  • Monitor the company’s financial performance ongoing and prepare reports for the SLT, highlighting any variances where appropriate and making recommendations.
  • Direct and implement internal controls and work with external auditors.
  • Advise the SLT with regards to compliance and make recommendations.
  • Build, implement and maintain an accurate Financial Information System (FIS) in line with agreed processes and procedures.
  • Update financial processes as required, at least annually.
  • Ensuring correct charges are applied between companies, and oversee all inter-company transactions.

Key skills and expertise required:

  • Qualified accountant in either ACCA, CIMA or ACA
  • Previous experience of managing teams of accounts personnel within a commercial environment.
  • Very good overall accounting knowledge, including management reporting, systems and process management, as well as statutory and group reporting.
  • Very good working knowledge of MS Excel, as well as other Office programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work comfortably between Directors and accounting staff.
  • Own transport and UK driving license as occasional travel to other company sites.
