Job Description

Our client is a leading global manufacturer of components that are sold across a wide variety of industry sectors. The UK office is responsible for sales and distribution of products across this region and they are now looking to recruit an experienced, qualified Accountant, in a hands-on role, leading a small team of transactional accounts assistants.

You’ll be reporting to the UK Finance Director and broadly, will be responsible for the financial management, monitoring and control of the UK entity.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor actual performance against budget and forecasts, to ensure that the company achieves its finances and profit objectives.

  • Produce the monthly management accounts, variance analysis and supporting schedules, together with half year-end and financial year end processes, ensuring that deadlines are adhered to.
  • Working closely with the senior leadership team to produce accurate and timely reports, including financial and economic analysis of the business, for decision-making purposes.
  • Effectively manage the working capital components of the company, particularly with regard to stock, debtors, cash flow and cash balances.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations including managing fixed assets and depreciation.
  • Managing and ensuring that the relevant financial controls & procedures are met and maintained across the ledgers.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the company’s product costing system, including supporting the engineering team’s calculations of locally assembled products.
  • Working closely with auditors, supporting the audit process.
  • Tax planning and control – including VAT returns, corporation tax, and all other relevant taxes.
  • Supporting with year end stock takes.
  • Supporting with forecasting and financial budgets as required.
  • Identifying improvements in process and automation through the SAP system.
  • General financial control of major capital and revenue expenditure.

Skills/experience required:

  • ACCA or CIMA qualification
  • Experienced in producing accurate financial and management accounting reports for a manufacturing business.
  • Experienced with an ERP system, SAP preferable but not a prerequisite.
  • Working knowledge of UK statutory and tax legislation
  • Experienced in people management with very good communication and team leadership skills.
  • MS Office to intermediate/advanced level, particularly MS Excel.
  • Competent user of business mining tools and the analysis, summary and presentation of large volumes of data.
