Job Description

Our client is a well-established and extremely reputable educational establishment who provide educational services across multiple sites. Due to continued growth and a large internal project moving to the iSAMS platform, the organisation is looking to recruit a Data Manager to join the team on a permanent basis. The purpose of this role is to be responsible for driving the data culture forward within the associated school and coordinate the efficient running of the internal data management systems. You will be supported by a Data Assistant, who reports directly into this role. Please note: The contractual working hours for this role are 35 per week – Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage and analyse pupil and staff data (including assessment, attendance, behaviour, examination and academic structure data) using the existing information management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR – General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Develop and manage pupil assessment recording processes.
  • Develop and maintain the parent, staff and pupil portals.
  • Advise senior staff on the use and best practice of iSAMs.
  • Provide analysis and reporting of key pupil and staff data to the senior management team, teaching staff, governing bodies and other external agencies
  • Manage the dissemination of data to support report construction and the construction of individual development plans for pupils.
  • Work with the Admission’s Department to develop and support an online admissions process.
  • Manage and maintain all staff and pupil data in preparation for prospective visit of inspections.
  • Design and deliver presentations to staff on new functions within data processes.
  • Organise and plan for each forthcoming academic year, including pupil allocation into classes and creation and printing of pupil timetables.
  • Manage subject choices and distribution of block numbers, in consultation with the senior staff.
  • Liaise with the IT Department to facilitate all of the above.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience with iSAMS preferred, but SIMS or another MIS (Management Information System) used within the Education Sector would be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of the requirements under GDPR.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of data structure and analysis.
  • Some prior people management experience.
  • Wider competency across the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Acute attention to detail with a methodical approach.
  • Strong organisational and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Decisive, with good judgement and problem-solving skills.
