Job Description

Our well known and market-leading client, who currently sit in the top 10 in the world within their sector, is now looking to acquire the services of a knowledgeable and experienced Logistics Manager. This is a critical role within the supply chain operation and will be responsible for the ongoing performance management and improvement of 3rd party freight forwarders, logistics and bottling providers. The successful candidate will take on project management responsibilities including improving data visibility, seeking more efficient and sustainable ways to ship products, driving delivery efficiencies to the end customer and supporting the Head of Logistics with ongoing supply chain projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of 3PL development plans to drive improvement and compliance in the outsourced freight forwarding, warehouse, transport and bottling operations.
  • Drive the overall performance of the 3PLs using all reported information and KPIs at weekly and monthly review meetings, looking at trends and broad structural issues affecting performance using all reported information and KPIs.
  • Support in the running of an annual sea freight tender and drive change to more sustainable methods of inbound and domestic distribution.
  • Work with the Manufacturing and Logistics Controller to improve customer delivery perception and reduce rework and transport costs related to returns, whilst minimising stock moving in transit.
  • Manage all HMRC related requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and business standards.
  • Act as a customs expert constantly developing knowledge and expertise.
  • Run audit schedules.
  • Support in annual stock checks.
  • Ensure Product Traceability across the distribution network.
  • Drive performance improvement to meet industry-leading standards.
  • Ensure the 3PL claims process is effective in recovering claim costs as per associated contracts.
  • Implement and Manage IOD (information on delivery) strategy with hauliers.
  • Identify and lead projects to deliver cost savings and process improvements across the supply chain.
  • Continuously develop trade and industry knowledge, including the upskilling of knowledge across the wider team.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience (minimum 4 years) in a Managerial role within a Logistics Operation, ideally from an FMCG environment.
  • Previous experience working with HMRC would be beneficial.
  • Strong leadership skills including engagement, coaching, performance management and relationship development.
  • Proven ability to use analytical models to analyse warehouse and transport operations for efficiency.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
  • Prior experience using SAP.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time permanent role working Monday to Friday either 8.30 am – 5 pm or 9 am – 5.30 pm. There is the option to finish at 3 pm on a Friday if hours are made up.
  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank holidays. After 1-year service, up to 5 additional days can be purchased.
