Job Description

Our client is a well established supplier of products and services to the hospitality sector, who are now in a growth period and looking to expand their accounts department. They are now looking to hire a Team Manager, to oversee a small team of accounts assistants, to process high volumes of purchase invoices each month, as well as manage all other day to day accounting processes.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this person must have very good people-management skills, and be able to motivate, guide, coach and develop the team that will report into them. We are therefore seeking applications from people that have broad hands-on accounting & administrative skills, as well as very good people and team management skills.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Overseeing a busy purchase ledger function – approx’ 5000 invoices per month and supplier reconciliations.
  • Sales ledge of approx’ 450 invoices per month.
  • Processing weekly financial information from client sites across the UK.
  • Processing expenses
  • Production of monthly client profit & loss reports.
  • Updating of client budgets.
  • Nominal code reconciliations.
  • Month end reporting
  • Acting as a point of contact for other teams/departments communicating with the accounts department to resolve queries.
  • Staff management, training, appraisals etc.
  • Ensuring that the department runs smoothly and to operational requirements at all times.

Skills & Experience required:

  • Good team management/leadership skills, able to build productive teams, train and empower staff.
  • Very good accounts administration experience, in particular running busy purchase ledgers, with broad general expertise in most areas of accounting/bookkeeping.
  • Ideally AAT qualified or equivalent, but would consider applicants who are currently studying.
  • Good overall IT skills, including MS Office.
  • Good overall administration and organisational skills.
