Job Description

Our client is a pioneering and globally recognised bespoke manufacturer based in Southam. They are industry leading specialist in their field and due to continued growth and investment in the business, a newly created role has arisen for a Materials Planner. This is an exciting opportunity, with a fantastic benefits package and opportunity for growth. The ideal candidate will be an experienced materials planner/controller and a confident user of Microsoft Navison, ideally experienced within a manufacturing environment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Production Planner and create Finished Goods Items for new Job demand and then take exports from our design software and run these through MRP to create stock reservations and Order demand.
  • Raise the necessary Purchase Orders in line with dates given by the Production Planner.
  • Update our ‘Shop Issue’ system (Drawings issue system) and add comments to show which Order numbers have been placed and mark them as actioned.
  • Check Order acknowledgements and advise suppliers on any corrections needed.
  • Expedite Orders to make sure they arrive on time.
  • Work with the Production Planner where requirements cannot be met, to enable rescheduling of the factory plan.
  • Liaise with the Stores on stock levels and identify areas for improvement of our stock profile.
  • Review our current part code setups and see how this could be streamlined or improved.
  • Deal with and resolve day to day material issues arising from the shop floor.
  • Notify the Head of Operations of problems arising

Key Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Navision MRP systems
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, manufacturing environment with competing objectives
  • Previous experience of running MRP software for the creation of Production and Purchase Orders
  • Excellent computer skills – MS Excel, and Outlook
  • Good oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work alone as well as with others.
  • Organised and pro-active with a logical mind.
  • Accurate numerical skill and good literary skill.
  • Analytical and logical problem solving.
  • Be ambitious and goal orientated.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • An enthusiastic and energetic “can-do” nature.

Desirable:

  • Schueco Aluminium systems product knowledge.
