Job Purpose:

The Marketing & Sales Manager is responsible for developing, growing and maintaining the company’s sales turnover, through strategic use of direct and indirect marketing. The role is multi-faceted and calls for the individual to have proven expertise in developing a brand, creating engaging marketing initiatives that will ultimately drive an increase in sales. Our client is therefore seeking to employ someone with a good working knowledge of a broad marketing mix, but also the ability to liaise with customers and prospects and close sales.

You will be working closely with the Sales Director on devising marketing & sales strategy, then carrying out the tactical work ‘on the ground’, to enable the growth in sales/increase in market share that the company are seeking. Ultimately, this role could develop further as the company grows, as it would be anticipated that a commercial team would develop under the direct management of this individual.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Sales Director to develop a robust & fully costed Marketing & Sales strategy.
  • Create reports on activity and ROI from CRM, website and all other marketing channels.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s CRM, so that data can be extracted for direct marketing initiatives to both existing and prospect customers.
  • Create segmented mailing lists using data extracted from CRM, Linkedin and other sources.
  • Develop the company’s website, ensuring that leads are captured and that the website is fully optimised for keyword searches, and highly-ranked on Google searches (SEO).
  • Develop the company’s social media channels (Linkedin/Twitter/Youtube), creating new, engaging content, a ‘tone of voice’ and consistent online brand presence for the company.
  • Ensuring that the company are represented at relevant trade shows, exhibitions and events.
  • Write content for publication and produce marketing literature (printed and online).
  • Generate leads into the business from all pro-active marketing initiatives. Ensure all leads are tracked and closed to satisfactory target levels.
  • Identify new business opportunities and prospect customers from both the existing client list, but also new/cold customers.
  • Produce tender documents, quotations and ensure that all enquiries and submissions are followed up to conclusion.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on market trends and competitor activity.
  • Carry out feasibility studies on range of new products and services.
  • Any other relevant ad-hoc tasks as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a broad-mix B2B marketing role.
  • Experience of working in an engineering/capital equipment sales business (preferred but not pre-requisite).
  • Able to create and implement a B2B marketing strategy, covering online communications, direct marketing and overall brand development.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, able to create engaging content for all marketing channels.
  • Able to create reports with a focus on ROI.
  • Strong commercial background, able to spot and close on sales & business development opportunities for the company and ensuring that the company are ‘front & centre’ in their industry space.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence decision makers, build rapport and long-term customer relationships.
  • Team management & leadership skills
  • Excellent general IT skills (CRM, MS Word, Video Conferencing software etc).
  • UK driving license
