Job Description

Our client is an established and reputable trust with a passion for improving the quality of children’s education. They are looking to acquire the services of a personable and highly experienced Senior IT Support Technician to join their central IT Team, based in Witney. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of all ICT infrastructure and associated hardware and software for the schools.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in providing 1st/2nd line support and systems development in a medium to large environment as well as experience of managing and supporting Windows desktop and server systems. Experience of working in the education sector is advantageous but not essential.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support the Network Manager in ensuring the effective functioning of the ICT Networks and associated hardware/software, all ICT related hardware/software and CCTV and telephone system.
  • Assist the Network Manager on strategic planning of all ICT and other related installations.
  • Responsible for the installation of all new ICT equipment, relocation of existing, disposal of obsolete ICT equipment and the installation of servers as required.
  • Assist the Network Manager with the disaster recovery and backing up of all systems, including maintenance and checks.
  • Responsible for managing, testing and applying appropriate access rights for access to systems, applications and user accounts.
  • Responsible for identifying individual or group training requirements and arranging external bodies or in-house staff who would best provide this service.
  • Administration of the MIS system.
  • Update website content and design as directed by the Network Manager, Headteachers and Chief Finance Officer.
  • To use and assist others in the use of information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Multiple years of experience providing 1st/2nd line support.
  • Extensive knowledge of ICT hardware and software and the integration of the two, including but not limited to Laptops, iPads, Desktops, Printers, Projectors etc.
  • Experience of managing and supporting Windows desktop, server systems and managed network environments.
  • Experience using Disaster Recovery technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience of working in a school, academy or other educational setting is advantageous.
  • Highly organised and ability to work under pressure while maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Able to communicate effectively and with both children/young people and adults at all levels in the organisation.

Additional Information:

The working hours are Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week. The company offers 27 days annual leave plus the 8 bank holidays.
