Accountant and Portfolio Manager

Job Description

My client is a very well thought of Accountancy practice with number of offices based in the local area. They have built an excellent reputation over a number of years and they are now looking for a qualified Accountant to join their proactive and high achieving team.

The main purpose of the role is to contribute to the efficient and professional management of client portfolios, many of which could belong to large or small limited companies as well as sole traders.

Main responsibilities:

• Oversee compilation of accounts and tax returns for companies in the agricultural sector as well as sole traders.
• Develop strong and lasting relationships with clients, maintaining regular communications to become their trusted point of contact within the business.
• Ensure that premium service levels are delivered to all clients in a timely manner.
• Assist Directors with reporting on tax planning, VAT, farm diversification and other ad-hoc tasks.
• Effectively manage the agricultural portfolio, WIP, billing and workflow management, whilst ensuring work is carried out within set timescales.

Key Skills and Experience:

• ACCA/ACA/CTA qualified with Minimum two years PQE
• Knowledge of Agricultural accounting
• Excellent accounting and computer skills including Sage, Xero, Quickbooks and Key Accounts
• Demonstrable knowledge of current tax legislation
• Experience in Audit in the agricultural environment
• Legislative compliance – ability to interpret relevant legislation to clients
• Previous experience of managing client relationships in a busy accountancy practice
