Job Description

Our client is a leading supplier of life science products to the research industry based in Abingdon. The business is now looking to recruit a highly capable and reliable Assistant Accountant to become part of their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and growing business. The right candidate would be supporting the finance team on a day-to-day basis and contribute to the delivery of accurate monthly management accounts. Assistant Accountant Main responsibilities:

  • Key contributor to delivery of month end and management accounts
  • Reconciling key balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain intercompany trading balances
  • Maintain fixed asset registers
  • Involvement in cost accounting for manufacturing site
  • Preparation of data for foreign subsidiaries monthly VAT and Intrastat filings
  • Preparation of data for foreign subsidiaries local statutory accounts
  • Sales reporting for the EMEA region
  • Follow the Company’s KPI’s and ensure ratios are maintained
  • Apply the Company’s commercial and operational policy in relevant territories
  • Work within guidelines of Company Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
  • Work with internal departments to maximise communication and improve efficiencies

Key Skills & Experience:

  • AAT qualified (or equivalent by experience)
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role
  • Possess excellent IT skills, including strong experience of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Sage Line 500 and Pegasus Opera would be beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks
  • Enjoy working on own initiative and as part of a team to deliver results, learn and share knowledge
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Feel comfortable working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to build strong relationships cross functionally
  • Flexible attitude to cover work as required

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-17:30pm
