Job Description

Our client is a reputable and extremely well-established law firm based in Wallingford who are expanding their team with the addition of a Legal Accounts Assistant. Legal Accounts Assistant Main responsibilities:

  • High attention to detail
  • Book-keeping or AAT Intermediate qualifications (Part Qualified AAT or similar)
  • Knowledge of Credit Control and ability to communicate concisely with clients
  • Knowledge of Purchase Ledger, statement reconciliations and payment routines
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules
  • Problem-solver with can-do attitude
  • A team player with desire to help colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A high standard of listening
  • Able to ask great questions
  • Proactive
  • Able to deal with challenging situations in an appropriate manner

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Daily banking functions including client and office account bank reconciliations
  • Management of unclaimed client funds and operation of suspense accounts
  • Administration and reconciliation of petty cash
  • Management of client and office accounting transactions
  • Management of banking (inc. transfers, cheques and payroll)
  • Payment of pension scheme contributions
  • Assisting teams with queries and housekeeping of matters
  • Calculating interest of client account funds
  • Processing write offs and credit notes
  • Credit control
  • Assisting with month-end reporting
  • Preparatory work for the annual accounts and SAR audit
  • Preparatory work of the firm’s annual budget
  • Ensuring compliance of SRA’s and Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Updating SAR Breach register on the firm’s PMS
