Job Description

Our client is an established veterinary pharmaceutical business that develops and manufactures products that are sold by a network of distributors to support the ongoing health and wellbeing of our animals. Due to continued success, the business is now looking for a Finance Assistant who will provide support to the Accounts Supervisor, Assistant Management Accountant and the Supply Chain Manager. This is a superb opportunity to work within a hugely passionate and close-knit team, with future potential to advance your career in Accountancy. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years finance experience and have knowledge of profit and loss and stock reconciliation. This role would best suit a self-motivated, driven individual who is a natural ‘people person’ and who enjoys building relationships.

Please note: The working hours are Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. Hybrid working is also available 2 days per week.

Finance Assistant key responsibilities:

  • Purchase Ledger – collating, coding, matching and posting purchase invoices, processing supplier and stock invoices, and reconciling the supplier statement.
  • Expenses – timely processing of staff expenses.
  • Monitoring of wholesaler orders vs stock balance to include regular stock reconciliation.
  • Completion of the ROI Procurement files.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Supporting the accurate analysis of the sales forecast – including potential write offs and risks.
  • Timely and accurate posting of UK & ROI deliveries along with creation and delivery of associated paperwork.
  • General accountancy duties to support the wider team.

Skills and Experience required:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Finance function
  • AAT qualified or part qualified (important but not essential)
  • Computer literate and a competent user of Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Ability to use initiative with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Previous experience within a Supply Chain or Purchasing function is desirable, but not essential
  • ERP knowledge – especially JD Edwards, would be advantageous but not essential
