Assistant Accountant

Job Description

Our client is a highly successful technology business, who are looking to recruit an experienced accounts professional, to join the team on an 18 month fixed-term contract, to cover maternity leave.

The job role is varied and busy and so we are looking for someone who has experience of running accounts to trial balance, carry out month end processes and to ensure that all financial records are complete and compliant.

This position is to commence ASAP to enable a good handover with the person departing, so we are looking for candidates who are available at reasonably short notice (ideally).

Key responsibilities;

• Posting invoices and credit notes
• Prepare and process supplier payments
• Analyse staff expenses
• Perform bank, VAT and other reconciliations
• Credit control
• Process monthly accruals, prepayments, and journals
• Produce month end stock evaluations
• Carry out month end and year end duties
• Assist with audits
• Prepare accounts to trial balance
• Maintain the fixed asset register
• Maintain nominal ledger
• Prepare monthly reports for the management team
• Work with the Accountant to prepare budgets
• Deal with company insurance policies as required

Skills & experience required;

• Experienced in all areas of bookkeeping and accounts to trial balance
• Experienced user of accounting software (Sage ideally, but not pre-requisite)
• Flexible and able to work in a small, close-knit team environment
• Some experience of working in accounts for a manufacturing company would be ideal, but would also consider candidates with other industry expertise.
• Own transport due to rural location (hybrid working – 2 days in the office/3 WFH).
