Job Description

Our client is a cutting-edge, global leader in the navigation sector who has been established for more than 20 years, based in Bicester. They are now looking to acquire the services of an adaptable Assistant Accountant, for a FTC ending in July 2024, reporting to and supporting the Finance Team Leader in all aspects of company finance. This is a fantastic opportunity, which would suit an individual who is a self-starter, passionate, and resilient looking to work in a varied, dynamic environment.
Main Responsibilities:

  • Post invoices and credit notes as required.
  • Prepare and process supplier payments.
  • Analyse staff expenses.
  • Analyse corporate card expenses.
  • Perform bank, VAT, and other reconciliations.
  • Responsible for credit control.
  • Process monthly accruals, prepayments, and journals.
  • Produce monthly stock valuations.
  • Carry out month-end, year-end.
  • Assist with audits.
  • Prepare accounts to trial balance.
  • Maintain fixed assets register and nominal ledger.
  • Ensure all financial records are complete and compliant with current legislation.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the management team.
  • Work with the accountant and chief accountant to prepare budgets.
  • Act as point of contact across departments.
  • Input to R&D tax credit submissions.
  • Deal with company insurance policies.
  • Ensure processes and tasks are compliant to current legislation and are carried out in accordance with company policies within required time frames.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • A-levels or equivalent.
  • AAT Level 4 (Qualified or QBE) essential.
  • Proficient with Sage 50 Accounts.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience in accounting roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of working on accruals and prepayments accounting and working on Fixed Assets Register desirable (however, training will be provided).
  • Knowledge of VAT C79 treatment desirable.
  • Experience of working with multi currencies.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time, contract role, Monday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm (37.5hrs), with half an hour for lunch.
  • Hybrid Working, 2 days working from home.
  • 27 Days Holiday + Bank holidays.
  • In addition, the role is eligible for a discretionary profit share bonus which will be at the absolute discretion of the Company and if applicable the employee will be notified in writing.
