Job Description

Our client is an innovative and dynamic luxury retail brand, who have enjoyed phenomenal success over the past 10 years. Due to a pending maternity leave, they are looking to recruit a Senior HR & Talent Manager on a Fixed Term Contract until the end of next year (December 2023). The purpose of this role is to ensure the HR function operates smoothly on a daily basis and to lead the wider team in delivering an excellent HR service to the business. The ideal candidate will be a strong HR Generalist with experience overseeing a small team within a medium sized, fast paced business. The role is a true blend of operational and strategic HR output, leading the team to achieve strategic milestones on the HR calendar, in addition to ‘rolling your sleeves up’ to handle operational HR issues when required.

Please note: This is a fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave within the business. The ideal candidate will start asap, and the contract will run until the end of next year (Dec 2023) so will likely be a 16-18-month contract depending on how soon the successful candidate can join. This role offers a hybrid working model, where the successful candidate can work 2-3 days at home each week. The working hours are 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, with some flex where required based on demands of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the HR and Talent function day to day, overseeing the employee lifecycle across the organisation.
  • Lead the team to achieve pre-set strategic milestones, project goals and individual objectives.
  • Conducting regular analysis to ensure the department is achieving excellent quality, and that the workload is manageable for the team.
  • Overseeing the management of employee queries, handling escalated or more complex HR cases where required.
  • Leading the talent team and associated HRBP to ensure that operational warehouse peaks are effectively resourced, and that contracts/secondments are managed appropriately at the start and end of peak periods.
  • Ensure that recruitment, appraisals, pay review and learning and development activities are being managed effectively, providing support where necessary.
  • Communicating with managers across the business to ensure their needs as people leaders are being met.
  • Responsible for ensuring employee wellbeing needs are proactively assessed and supported and that H&S is considered as a primary factor in all HR activities.
  • Accountable for accurate and compliant use of HR systems, processes and documentation.
  • Maintaining policies and processes in line with legislative and business changes.
  • Review and sign off the monthly payroll.
  • Supporting the US side of the company when required.
  • Attending weekly management meetings.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven HR leadership skills/experience teamed with a proactive approach to work.
  • Previous experience in a Senior Generalist HR role (HR Manager level).
  • CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent) is desirable, but the Level 5 and/or proven experience in a similar role will also be considered.
  • Previous people management experience, leading a small HR & Internal recruitment team.
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing (or similar) business.
  • Acute attention to detail, with the ability to keep information confidential and compliant.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law essential – knowledge of US law highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Confidence to manage complex ER cases.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present data.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and Health & Safety.
  • Flexible to meet the needs of a fast-paced, growing organisation.
